In the heart of Somerset, on the Isle of Wedmore lies a small orchard of old trees looking across Tealham Moor, a site of special scientific interest. Our traditional apple trees have deep roots into this ancient landscape, which help us produce exceptional cider.
Old Jollop is made by hand and by friends, who came together to produce small batches of cider that is true to Somerset’s cider heritage, whilst delivering a refreshing drink that’s very different from the mass produced alternatives.
In case you’re wondering about the name; Jollop is an old Somerset word for medicine.
Local farmers, at the end of a long day in the fields would stop by the cider barn for a ‘drop of old jollop’ to help their aches and pains!
Whether it helped is lost in the mists of time, but we’re pretty sure they wouldn’t have minded ‘taking their medicine’!
